The course will help students in the understanding of key structures and mechanisms of Operating Systems, the types of trade-offs and decisions involved in operating systems design, and the context within which the operating systems functions (hardware, other system programs, application programs, interactive users).

-Operating Systems terms and concepts
-Types of PC Operating Systems
-Choosing an Operating Systems
• Major Operating Systems Architecture
-Functions of Operation Systems
-Listing important files
-Boot Sequence
-Creating a Start-up Disk or Emergency repair Disk.
• Installing and Up-grading your Operating Systems
-Installing the Operating Systems
-Installing and using Windows XP
-Managing and Supporting Windows XP
-Upgrading the Operating Systems

Senior Certificate or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification. In the event of an application for the Recognition of Prior Learning the learner will be required to submit a portfolio of evidence of relevant experience, in a prescribed format, to be assessed for formal recognition.
