The purpose of this module is to acquaint the learner with the fundamental principles necessary to manage labour relations
at organisation level.

• Introduction to Labour Relations
• The traditional labour relations system in action
• Labour relations management practices designed to add value and promote competitiveness
• Theoretical background to the labour relationship
• Industrial democracy
• Ideological and economic foundations of the relationship
• Theoretical background to the labour relationship
• Labour growth and development in the South African political context
• Common law and the contractual relationship

• The minimum entry requirement is the National Senior Certificate that allows admission to a Bachelors Degree.
• Mature age exemption for learners above the age of 23 years as set out in the Higher Education Regulations.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
